Barclays biometric reader demo

We worked with Belong Communications and their client, Barclays, to create a short 1 minute film explaining their new biometric vein scanning device. Without the budget to shoot a tutorial using the real device their options were limited and the timeline created a bit of pressure to act quickly.

Solution

As soon as we got the brief we requested that the device be sent to us so we could create an exact replica of it in CGI. We did this as quickly as we could and sent it straight over to the client for approval with a short storyboard to lay out our suggestions for the rest of the film. By immediately generating the key assets for sign off we were able to address any feedback very early on. On a very short deadline this was the key to delivering exactly what the client needed with zero hiccups.

Result

Not only was CGI the most cost effective way to create a simple demo of this real-world technology at work but it allowed us to easily brand the film in bold, Barclays colours and create a branded feel from the very first frame. This is something which is much harder to do using live action and which the client was grateful for.

The film was distributed to members of Barclays as both a rationale for why the the device was becoming a part of the online banking process and also as an educational tool to help people start using the device.
