Barclays Fraud
Awareness

The Barclays Corporate banking team approached us to create a fraud awareness campaign aimed at their UK business customers. Our audience was finance teams up and down the country and the mission was to highlight the main types of fraudulent activity.

Solution

Our solution was to create a series of animations covering the different types of fraud as well as tips for staying safe. The focus for each animation was the user experience – what to look out for, how to stay safe and how your behaviour online can make you vulnerable.

Without scaremongering, our aim was to be clear that falling victim to fraud was increasingly common and something that everyone could play their part in preventing. As fraudsters often ‘posed’ as Barclays, we also wanted to be emphatic in each animation about how Barclays would and wouldn’t approach you or request from you.

Some of the subjects covered have been:

• Trojan virus attack

• Vishing

• Invoice Fraud

• Cheque fraud

• The does and don’ts of using a card reader

Results

The animations have initially been sent by direct mail to existing customers. Each was contained within an email with containing more support and advice. During periods of increased attacks, the animation pertaining attacks of that nature have been re-shared in a targeted way. The animations have also been shared face to face with customers via the Relationship Manager network.

The films were also uploaded to the Barclays website where they received around 7,500 hits per month for the fist three months. The next most viewed films on the site had around 125 viewers, which is the average Barclays expect.
