TfL Annual Report. Social media stings.

Transport for London wanted to drive engagement on social media around the release of their annual report. On an extremely tight 2.5 week timeline they needed a unified, cross-platform video campaign simple enough to appeal to everyone but engaging enough to be highly-clickable.

Solution


Our answer to this was short, loopable animations which could be shared with their followers and the press. We worked jointly with the marketing and PR teams to narrow down the most interesting key stats from the report, paying particular attention to those which would lend themselves most naturally to an animated approach. Due to the tight timeframe we specifically learned towards stats which could be ‘grouped’ together to share as many similar visual assets as possible (eg overgound, tube, DLR). We then set out to create custom GIFS and snappy animated infographics to keep viewers watching, reading, and sharing the most important statistics from the report. 


Results

As a budget-conscious organisation it was a big win for TfL to engage their audience using recycled content from their annual report. Animation allowed us to do this quickly and efficiently, taking simple statistics and turning them into engaging pieces of social content which were able to take on a life of their own.

The stings went out on all of their social channels, in email footers as gifs and alongside press releases.
